Privacy policy
Minstrel Player does not collect, store or share personal data. It has no account, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking, and the developer runs no server that the app reports to.
What the app connects to
- Media servers and players on your network, which it finds with standard UPnP/DLNA discovery, and any you add by address.
- Launchpads you pair with: the minstrel-launchpad service you or someone you know runs at home, at the addresses in its pairing code. The connection is encrypted and accepted only from that launchpad's key.
It connects to nothing else.
What stays on your device
- The homes you paired with: their names, addresses, and the access token each launchpad issued to this device.
- Your settings, servers added by address, the play queue, and recently played folders for the car's Recent list.
Removing the app removes all of it. To take a device's access away, remove it on the launchpad's console.
Permissions
- Local network: to find and play from media servers and players at home.
- Camera: only to scan a launchpad's pairing code. Images are processed on the device and never stored or sent. On Android, scanning uses Google's ML Kit, which runs on the device; Google may receive anonymous diagnostic information from it under its terms.
- Background audio and notifications: to keep playing with the screen off and show playback controls.
Android Auto and CarPlay
In the car, the app shows your library and what is playing on the car's screen. This goes from the phone to the car directly; Minstrel sends nothing to Google or Apple about it.
The launchpad
minstrel-launchpad runs on your own equipment. It keeps the list of paired devices (the name given at pairing, when each was added and last used, and the address it last connected from) so you can see and remove them on its console. It sends this to no one.
Children
The app collects no data from anyone, children included.
